AMSOIL Industrial Division
I just read this about AMSOIL in Lubes and Greases newsletter.
Synthetic lubricants manufacturer Amsoil launched Amsoil Industrial, a new business unit dedicated to serving large business-to-business customers, initially in four segments: metal stamping, plastic injection molding, power generation and general construction equipment manufacturers.
The company, based in Superior, Wisconsin, noted it has provided lubricants for industrial customers in such segments as power generation, hydraulics and compressor applications for more than a decade. “Amsoil is the factory-fill supplier for multiple industrial” original equipment manufacturers, Dave Meyer, Amsoil vice president for industrial, said in a press release. The company has a strong global presence in the wind market, he added.
The company said that expanding its industrial footprint was a natural progression after more than 50 years developing sophisticated lubrication solutions for the most demanding applications. Customers of the new business unit can expect a strong partnership, the company said, including consultative on-site analysis and support from Certified Lubrication Specialists on staff. “It’s standard to begin every relationship with a plant audit,” Meyer said. “The
ongoing partnership featuring our deep insights into the market, equipment and product performance is what sets us apart.”
Amsoil President & CEO Alan Amatuzio, said research and product development drive the company. “We have always approached product development from a problem-solving standpoint,” Amatuzio said in a press release. The new unit will serve B2B customers through a corporate sales team, as opposed to the independent dealer network used to sell Amsoil’s consumer products in North America. “Our commitment to our independent dealers is unwavering,” he said.
“But large B2B relationships require deeper corporate interaction and carry greater liability, demanding the attention of a dedicated corporate sales force.”
My Take,
I've been involved with AMSOIL Since 2000. I was very interested in the commercial and industrial division in the very beginning. My first ever training was called CAT school in Dallas Texas. We trained on all aspects of commercial and industrial. Over the years I've found it very difficult to work with large industrial companies and some of the products and knowledge needed is substantial as well as taking on large risk for products and recommendations. Many industrial machines have
lubrication requirements that you need to be a Certified Lubrication Specialists to even recommend. Just like the AMSOIL wind division these types of customers are not suitable for a vast majority of AMSOIL Dealers. This newly created division will help boost company profits and increase our brand awareness.
For us we are still concentrating on the 4 types of accounts that have proven to increase our business. Dealer Network, Preferred Customers, Commercial and ROTS/Installers. Keep your eye on the ball and you will reach your goals.

Customer Certified is where you want to be
Maintaining customer certification can seem like a daunting challenge for many new dealers. I know this when we first got started, we were not adding many customers on a monthly basis. This all changed when we got serious about it. Our goal for the last few years is to have 10 new customers per 30 days...We have been able to do this through our AMSOIL activities. We use all kinds of marketing like online, offline, face to face, referrals etc.
We most like this kind of marketing because it works for us 24/7/365. That means our website and our google presence. This takes some upfront effort that may not show up immediately in new customers, but over time it will continue to work for you while without much ongoing effort. Consider implementing Video on Youtube. Consider making a blog on your website. Consider getting your Google business listing up and running and ask for referrals. This is key to the long term
success of your business.

Would you like another place to be found on the internet? Getting listed on our Buy Local Directory can help you get found. True story, one dealer had a listing, then took it down...When I asked why they said because our listing was above their website on Google. Once I explained that this is a good thing and having 2 listings on Google is better than one, they put their listing back up.
Another story, we received a message from one of our dealers ROTS accounts. They wanted to take their listing down because they kept "getting calls for AMSOIL" even though they were not stocking it and decided to quit the ROTS program. We pulled their listing, we can't help people that "hate money"....

BTW, there are no "back end" links to AMSOIL. Your listing and what you put on it is yours to do with. We made it this way because we want you and your retailer/installers to get the calls and make the sales.
Even if you are not stocking AMSOIL, that's okay. You can still get a call and hopefully help out someone and get a new customer. It's always good if you can get them on the phone, find out what they need, what they do and find the appropriate program for them. Many times we ask people what they do for a living or where they work and they qualify for a commercial or ROTS account. Sometimes they will become a PC (with our encouragement) and even better decide to become a dealer when we
present the AMSOIL Business Opportunity.
